Al termine della Seconda guerra mondiale viene derubato un treno che sta trasportando, per ordine del generale Patton, un ingente quantitativo di lingotti d’oro. Al colonnello Rogers viene dato l’incarico di indagare. In realtà è lui il cervello del colpo e De Lucca, un ufficiale incaricato in segreto da Patton di condurre un’indagine parallela sull’accaduto, ha il suo bel da fare per smascherarlo.
